Samantha turned 23 on October 19, 2012, one week later she received the news that she had high grade three, stage III breast cancer.
She graduated Chico high school in 2007. She then enlisted in the US Navy and served on active duty for four and a half years as a Naval Aircrewmen. Currently she is a student at the University of Hawaii pursuing her degree in Accounting.
After feeling a painful swollen lymph node and lump in her breast she went to two separate doctors. Both doctors assured her there was no way it was breast cancer considering her health status and age of 22. It wasn't until her third attempt at getting a diagnosis that she received and ultrasound and mammogram revealing calcifications in her right breast.
Samantha's cancer is curable but she will need love and support from all of us. A foundation will be set up for donations. Notes, letters, cards, and pictures would be amazing as these things will keep her spirits up throughout this journey. Thank you so much and please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
